Heavy impasto, drips and streaks of paint borrowed from the Abstract Expressionists characterize the two works in this lot. Christides understands the expressive values of colour and is uninhibited in his use of thickly applied saturated hues to depict flowers and to draw attention to the dynamic energy of nature and the fecundity of the earth.
