Notes

The lot is offered together with a large quantity of original cuttings from The Essex Chronicle. Also with original letters of appreciation to the artist and a quantity of cuttings relating to the relationship between Springfield England and Springfield U.S.A.
From 1943-1946 Adam Horne contributed illustrations and a column for the Essex Chronicle and Essex Newsman Herald titled 'The Dear Homeland'. His Essex scenes and commentary clearly became highly evocative and emotive for servicemen in Foreign parts who inundated the artist and newspaper with leters of support and requests for subject matter, the selection of letters included in this lot record how much his illustrations meant to people.
