Notes

Saskatchewan NAC bio: Adeline Rockett was born in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan in 1929. She studied at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1962 and a Bachelor of Education in 1969. During this time, she worked as an instructor and researcher at the university. Rockett then moved on to Edmonton, Alberta, where she worked as a faculty consultant in the University of Alberta's Faculty of Education (1971-1973), attended the Banff School of Arts, and completed a Master in Art Education from the University of Alberta (1974). Her art studies would also take her to Europe, where she visited major galleries in London, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona. In the 1980s, Rockett also spent time in the United States, completing gallery studies in New York City and at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Focusing on landscape and attending to light, land, water, and the changing seasons, Rockett has traveled across Canada to paint a variety of scenes in watercolour and acrylics. In the early 1990s, she painted a series of works depicting the Arctic after a visit there. Since the early 1970s, Rockett's paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows across Canada, especially in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Her watercolours were part of an exhibition entitled 'Canada in International Waters', which toured Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom from 1991 to 1993. Rockett's work is represented in over 70 collections, including the Alberta Art Foundation, Athabasca University, Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon), University of Alberta, Government of Alberta, Edmonton Public School Board, Royal Collection of Drawings and Watercolours at Windsor Castle (England), Husky Oil Operations Ltd., Toronto-Dominion, Gulf Canada Resources, National Trust, and Bank of Montreal.

Rockett has been involved with the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Alberta Society of Artists, of which she was Chairperson from 1977 to 1979. In 2000, Rockett won the Millennium Art Competition through the Conservation Council of Canada and the Canada Millennium Partnership Program; her painting hangs in Ottawa at the Conservation Hall of Fame. Adeline Rockett continues to live and work in Edmonton, Alberta.

Terms

1. The closing of lots is staggered, with each subsequent lot closing one minute after the previous lot. If a bid is placed within the final moments of bidding for a particular lot, the bidding for that lot only will be extended for 3 minutes to allow for counter bids.

2. The total purchase price of each lot shall include the successful hammer price of the lot together with a buyer's premium of 18% of the hammer price. All prices are in Canadian Dollars.

3. A Goods and Services Tax of 5% will be charged on the hammer price and buyer's premium on all lots shipped to Canadian Provinces other than Saskatchewan. A Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 5% and a Provincial Sales Tax (PST) of 6% will be added to the successful hammer price and buyer's premium for all lots purchased by Saskatchewan residents or for delivery within Saskatchewan. However, the first $300 of hammer price for each previously owned artwork is PST exempt. Goods shipped outside of Canada are not subject to any sales tax.

4. Although Saskatchewan Network for Art Collecting takes great care and diligence in cataloging of lots offered for auction, all property is sold "as is" and neither we nor our consignors or agents make any warranties or representations as to the correctness of the catalogue entry or other descriptions contained therein, of the physical conditions, size, authenticity, or quality.

5. Notwithstanding the preceding condition, if the purchaser can provide, within 28 days of the sale of any lot, written opinion from at least two acknowledged experts or authorities that the said lot was incorrectly described in the catalogue, and if the purchaser returns the said lot within 28 days after such notice in the same condition as sold, we as agent for the consignor will rescind the sale and refund the purchase price.

6. We reserve the right to withdraw any property up to the moment of sale.

7. If the auctioneers decide, irrespective of any publicized or catalogued estimate, that any opening bid is below the value of the lot offered, they may reject the bid and withdraw the lot from sale, and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, they decide that any advance thereafter is insufficient, they may reject the advance.

8. With the fall of the auctioneer's hammer, title to the lot being offered will pass to the highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer, subject to the conditions set forth herein. The successful bidder thereupon will pay the full purchase price and assume full risk and responsibility for the said lot. All property must be removed by the purchaser at his or her expense not later than sixty business days following its sale and if not so removed a handling charge of 2% of the purchase price per month will be payable by the purchaser until the property is removed.

9. Payment should be made in full within ten days following the sale by email transfer, cheque, cash, bank draft, PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, Bitcoin or Ethereum unless other arrangements have been made with the auctioneer prior to the sale. Payment via PayPal, Visa or Mastercard will be subject to a 3% surcharge on the invoice total, and Payment via Bitcoin or Ethereum will be subject to a 10% surcharge on the invoice total. Successful bidders will receive an invoice via email from the auctioneer within 48 hours of the close of the auction, with instructions on payment methods and pick-up, delivery and shipping options.
