VARIOUS PROPERTIES

Jenny Lind, Swedish soprano was born in Stockholm and was known throughout Europe as the 'The Swedish Nightingale'. Aged nine, she entered the Royal School to study piano, voice, acting, language and dance. She attained great international popularity and in 1850, brought to New York by the impresario, P. T. Barnum, arrived in New York harbour aboard the steamship Atlantic and was greeted by nearly 40,000 people. She married Otto Goldschmidt, a German pianist in 1852. She donated much of her fees to establishing musical scholarships and charities in Sweden and England where she is buried.
