Description

30-1/8"T x 6-3/4" x 7" eachCast metal figural candelabra with applied toned warm brown patina, depicting a lad with a sickle and a maiden by an oak tree trunk, after Charles Octave Levy, both signed in the base, with attached name plates - one "Moissonneur / Par Charles Levy (Sculpt)" and the other - "Retour de Vendange / Par Charles Levy (Sculpt)"; both sculptures' bases have foundry roundel "Fabrication Francoise / Made in France / Paris". Both sculptures support detachable five-light candelabrum with scrolled arms with acanthus leaf design and tulip shape candleholders; attached to carved rouge marble base with gilt bronze acanthus leaf feet. Provenance: private collection, Pittsburgh distinguished family.
