Item Overview

Description

After Francois Clement Moreau (1831-1865), "Defence du Droit," c. 1910, patinated spelter figure of a male with a shield, marked "Justicia," on an integral relief base, verso with a "Fabrication Francaise, Paris, Made in France" button label, and an incised mark of "G.A.A.," H.- 33 1/2 in., W.- 12 1/4 in., D.- 10 1/4 in.

Condition Report

As found. A probably apparent professional repair is observed to the proper right arm/wrist which now bears an applied cuff bracelet and now appears to be loosened. The back of the arm appears with a crack approx 1 1/2 in. in length and the spear end is now not in place on the rock. Various scratches are noted intermittently throughout. An unusual example.
ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS." NO STATEMENT REGARDING CONDITION OF ANY ITEM, WHETHER IT IS MADE ORALLY AT THE AUCTION OR ANY OTHER TIME, OR IN WRITING IN THE CATALOGUE OR ELSEWHERE, SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE A WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION, OR ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY.
