engraving, 1418, a good but later impression of this rare print, trimmed on or just outside the platemark and retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the subject on all sides, the paper split along a vertical central fold, the sheet laid down onto paper, a short tear and a few minor paper splits at lower left sheet edge, some surface soiling, otherwise in good condition

This engraving was traditionally thought to be based on a composition by Baccio Bandinelli. It is however very closely related to a drawing by Rosso Fiorentino in the Uffizi (Inv. no. 6499F). An almost erased inscription Augustinus seems to imply that Rosso had already intended his design to be engraved by Agostino.
