This composition is based on one of Roelofs' most important paintings, 'De Pronkwieg' (Jan Juffermans, Albert Roelofs 1877-1920, The Hague 1982, ill. no. 76), which was sold to Baroness Bentinck, Wassenaar (1911). The sitter can be identified as Mientje (Wachter), a model Roelofs often used for his paintings, like in "Verstellen'(1911).
