A Century of German Railways.
The latest steam locomotive of 1935 vintage is compared with the first engine used for hauling passenger trains one-hundred years earlier, with a blond spirit of rail transport in seven-league boots personifying the stride of progress. Riemer was a painter and graphic artist of Polish-Jewish origin who studied in Dresden and Paris, then worked mostly in Germany. He was executed by the Nazis at the Oswieczim concentration camp in 1943. This is the English-language version.
