Description

Beautifully done. 7.5 x 9.5” visible. Professionally framed and matted to 13 x 15.25”. Fine condition. Since coming to the United States in 1884, Hirschberg contributed every year to the exhibitions of the American Watercolor Society in New York City. One of her most effective water-colors was Maggie Tulliver in the Red Deeps, from George Eliot's "Mill on the Floss," which she sent to the Society in 1887. Her Trysting Place was published in an etching by William Langson Lathrop, and another of her drawings entitled How de Do was engraved by Frederick E. Girsch and also published. She also illustrated for magazines.

We ship as many items as possible via our in house shipping center, however we don't ship out large items. In that case, we offer complimentary drop off at Eastham Qwik Pack and Ship (508-240-1775). They have a great reputation and are very reasonably priced. Items that will need to be shipped out via Qwik Pack and Ship are identified as such in the items description.

All items are shipped insured. In the event that an item that we ship is damaged in transit, we will submit an insurance claim for you with the post office with the proceeds being sent from the United States Post Office directly to you. No refunds will come from Gaynor's Fine Consignments.

Buyer is responsible for all VAT taxes, customs fees, or any other fees or taxes related to international or domestic purchases.

IMPORTANCE OF TERMS

Please take the time to read the following set of terms and conditions for the auction. By obtaining a Bidder Number, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms and conditions.

BIDDER RESPONSIBILITIES

Bidder is responsible for any and all activity, bids, and purchases involving Bidder's account. Once a bid has been placed, it cannot be lowered or deleted. Bidder agrees to keep its username and password confidential.

AUCTIONEER

Scott Gaynor (Massachusetts Auctioneer #2962. The auctioneer always reserves the right to withdraw a lot for any reason he deems appropriate, including any lots that may have a reserve, or if there is a lack of bidding interest or lack of appropriate bids.
Gaynor's Fine Consignments shall have the right to withdraw any item at any time for any reason and to default any sale in the event of an error or dispute.

BIDDING

All bidding is done via Invaluable. We cannot place or alter a bid for you.

RESTRICTED MATERIALS

Please note that lots containing ivory or any other plant or animal material may be subject to regulations imposed by the Endangered Species Act by the United States Fish and Wildlife Department as well as other restrictions under federal, state and/or local law. Some countries prohibit the importation of property containing materials from endangered plant or animal species and prospective purchasers should familiarize themselves with relevant customs regulations prior to bidding if they intend to import these item(s) into another country. We also suggest that buyers in the United States check with their state's wildlife protection agency for any restrictions on the purchase, possession or sale of ivory or any other animal material. Please note that bidders in New York and New Jersey may not bid on any lots containing elephant ivory, mammoth ivory, or rhinoceros horn. Items containing ivory can only be shipped to an address in the United States. Bidders should check all applicable government wildlife restrictions prior to placing a bid. The buyer will be solely responsible for obtaining any necessary license or permits applicable to the sale or transport of the item(s) including any export or import license and/or certificates as well as any other required documentation.

ESTIMATED WEIGHTS AND MEASUREMENTS

Metal weight given for jewelry includes stones unless stated otherwise.

CLOCKS AND WATCHES

No warrantee that any clock or watch is in working order is given. Virtually all clocks and watches have been repaired in the course of their lifetime and may include parts not original to them. There is no guarantee to works or movement. Unless otherwise stated, weight includes works.

STORAGE

Unless prior arrangements are made, pick-up within 7 working days of the auction is required, or a $25 per lot per 7 calendar day storage fee will be charged starting the 8th day after the close of the auction.

ABANDONED PROPERTY

Unless prior arrangements have been made, any lot(s) remaining at Gaynor's Fine Consignments more than 30 calendar days after the auction purchase date will be considered abandoned and no refunds will be given.  Gaynor's Fine Consignments is not obligated to notify the winning bidder of the abandoned lot(s).

Payment Terms

All items purchased must be paid for within 7 days unless an agreement has been reached before the end of the bidding. After 7 days, we will automatically charge your card on file. Storage fees of $25 per item per 7 calendar days will begin on the 8th calendar day after the auction closes. Payment can be made by credit card via Invaluable payment system, wire transfer, money order or check. Items can also be paid for and picked up at our store located at 24 S. Orleans Rd Unit #2 Orleans MA 02653. No credit cards will be taken over the phone. All orders over $2000 must be paid for by check, money order or wire transfer. Checks held for 7 days or until they clear. Any wire transfer fees will be incurred by the buyer. Sales tax (6.25%) will be collected from all customers with addresses in the state of Massachusetts.

All sales are final and no refunds are given. The sales records and recordings shall be conclusive. It is the bidder's responsibility to determine the exact condition/authenticity of each item. No statement in this catalogue or by representatives of Gaynor's Fine Consignments shall be considered as a warranty or assumption of liability. Written and oral descriptions given by Gaynor's Fine Consignments staff members are given as a courtesy to a client, are only an opinion, and should not be considered as a guarantee of age, composition, or authenticity. If an item comes with third party authentication or certification, any disputes must be taken up with the authenticator that issued the opinion. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear or imperfections. High resolution images are provided to assist a bidder in making an additional assessment of condition.
