Tsar Alexander II (1818-1881), standing full-length with his left hand holding white gloves and resting on the back of a gilt-wood chair, red-bordered black coat and black trousers, silver epaulettes, white and gold belt, white cross sash holding his sword, his right hand holding a white plumed black cap with red border and silver eagle motif, wearing numerous orders; pillar, draped red curtain bakcground with gold tassels, forest and castle beyond signed in Cyrillic and dated 'A. Rockstuhl 1864' (lower left) rectangular, 4 x 2 3/8 in. (101 x 61 mm.), gilt-wood frame.
