While a professor at the Royal Academy (1927-9), Henry Moore assisted, and other notable sculptors were associated with Ledward when he founded his own company in 1934, named 'Sculptured Memorials and Headstones'. Later he worked on a number of notable World War Two memorials, including one to the Submarine Service, Commandos and Airbourne Forces (1947) in Westminster Abbey, and later the 'Venus Fountain' (1953), in Sloane Square, London.
