ink and colour on silk, the bust portrait depicting the Consort Hui in frontal view, the serene face realistically rendered with captivating slender almond-shaped eyes, below finely picked out eyebrows delineated with thin hairs, her fair skin subtly accentuated with apricot-tinged rosy cheeks and slightly upturned lips, flanked by a pair of long pendulous earlobes decorated with three golden loop earrings on each side, her hair neatly parted in the centre and tied up atop her head with tufts of hair partially concealing the ears on both sides, dressed in changfu revealing the blue round-collared undergarment beneath a black outer layer, the garment centred with three golden-yellow buttons, all against a pale beige-yellow background

54.5 by 49.5 cm., 21 3/8  by 19 1/4  in.

Overall good condition with particularly well preserved pigments. There is minor moulding, foxing and light stains, especially to the silk, and expected wear and tear to the left arm. The portrait, with several expected creases which do not detract from the beauty of the painting, including a vertical one to the left side of the consort's face (visible on p. 17 of the catalogue).
