AN IRIDESCENT GREEN-GLAZED JAR,
HU

Han Dynasty

The rounded body with triple-bowstring bands at the midsection and the lower neck dividing unusually crisply molded
taotie-mask handles with rings centered by rice-grain pattern imitating Han jade carved discs, the tall waisted neck with shallow everted cup-shaped mouth.


14 1/2in (36.8cm) high

Formerly mounted as a lamp and thus drilled at one lower side with a small hole (1 cm). Large V-shaped break (approx. 4in across) to the rim that has been re stuck with only minor losses. An infill to the rim on opposite side (approx. 1 1/2in across). Some other wear and minor imperfections.
