Andrew Craig Rutter (1912-2000) THE FIFIE KEELBOAT FATHERS & SONS ENTERING SEAHOUSES HARBOUR IN A NORTHERLY BLOW signed and dated 1987, inscribed verso with title and dedication "For Ellen Allen Findley, provided she does not die of cigarettes before I do, Andrew"" oil on millboard LITERATURE: This painting is illustrated in colour in A Seahouses Saga, written by A.C. Rutter and published by F.L. Kennington, Stockport, 1998, a copy of which is included in this lot." Rutter was born at Seahouses and worked as a fisherman and later as a National Trust warden on the Farne Islands painting prolifically in his spare time. His work was retailed at Harrods, London, and in his native Northumbria. He died at Seahouses where apart from war service in the navy, on minesweepers, he had spent all his life."
