Notes

This painting is sold with accompanying documentation from Lauraine Diggins Fine Art that reads in part: 'As with her sisters, Kathleen and Polly Ngal, Angelina began producing batiks in 1986. She quickly adapted to painting on canvas when this was introduced to her community and it has largely been in this medium that Angelina has gained international recognition.

Some of Angelina's early work centred around wooden sculptures, probably influenced by her late husband, the older brother of Cowboy Loy Pwerl. She is sometimes known by her husband's name, as Angelina Pwerl. Pwerl (Alyawarr language) is also the equivalent to Ngal in the Anmatyerr language. Angelina began painting in 1988-9 as part of the CAAMA project with the Utopia women's paintings, The First works on Canvas: A Summer Project...Angelina paints her grandfather's country, Aharlper. Many of her paintings depict the Bush Plum which she represents through a focus of many coloured dots flooding the canvas.'
