Penciled words on two plates, soiling to half-title.

First edition. "A very rare illustrated work on the Pacific" (Forbes). Three of the plates are of the Marquesas (including one with tattoo designs and a tattooed hand), and three plates of are of Hawaii. The NUC records only the Library of Congress copy. Forbes 879; O'Reilly and Reitman 6260.
