Taranto born and adoptive Leghornese Antonietta Varallo, first approached painting at the young age of fifteen. A student in the "Trossi Umberto" free academy of Voltolino Fontani for about one year, she later pursued her studies under the guidance of maestro Luciano Torsi with whom she attained full artistic maturity over a span of eighteen years of teaching. In 1976 she was awarded the "Chimera Città di Arezzo" prize. She is, to this day, a honorary teacher of the "Macchiavello"Academy of Florence and the "G.Marconi" of Bologna.
