A young lady, in grey-blue satin dress with white crochet lace collar, engraved gold locket on black ribbon necklace, gold-mounted garnet drop-pendant earrings, a plait of hair crowning her centre-parted red hair
signed and dated 'Hähnisch 1863' (lower right)
on ivory
oval, 2¼ in. (54 mm.) high, gilt-metal locket frame
