Drs. Fred Meijer, Rijksbureau voor kunsthistorische Dokumentatie (RKD), The Hague, identified the present work on the basis of photographs as autograph Arie de Vois (oral communication).
Provenance: private collection, Vienna
Arie de Vois was a pupil of Nikolaus Knüpfer and A. van den Tempel. His mostly small-scale, vivid representations executed in a delicate and minute style have been popular with collectors at all times. Paintings by his hand are preserved in major museums all over the world.
