Literature

He is a painter born in 1949 in the Pinar del Río province, Cuba. Despite having been diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years ago, he has had no limitations in continuing to share his spectacular works with the world. He studied painting at the Workshop School of Plastic and Applied Arts in Pinar del Río. Later Painting and Drawing at the National School of Art of Cuba, in Havana, graduating in 1970. In 1998, Oliva founded and financed the Pedro Pablo Oliva House-Workshop in Pinar del Río, with the aim of promoting the art, literature and culture of his native province. Oliva has various awards and recognitions throughout his career. He is a person of simple tastes where painting is his inspiration. He acknowledges that his beginnings were between 11 and 12 years old when he discovered his love for painting and art. Although in 2011 he was described as a counterrevolutionary by many of his works, he has not stopped capturing his life and experience in each of his paintings, thus capturing his personal opinion about the world, as has been the different situations that the Cubans, example of this was his presentation El gran abuelo.
