In her series Hypernatural (2003-06), Kruse Jensen photographs outdoor swimming pools in Iceland at night when the scene is devoid of activity. The contrast between the darkness and the saturated colours -- produced by long exposure time -- creates an eerie tension. According to Alison Nordström, Curator of Photographs at George Eastman House, Kruse Jensen explores the link between reality and imagination in her photographs: 'The index of the world Kruse Jensen's pictures offer us includes both its facts and its capacity for dreams...She delivers the real world while embracing its mysteries and paradoxes.' ('Flux and Paradox', Selected Works, p.15)

Kruse Jensen earned her post-graduate degree at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. Her works have been included in dozens of international exhibitions, including a recent solo show at Vestsjaellands Kunstmuseum, Denmark and are held in private and institutional collections, including The John Kobal Foundation and National Portrait Gallery, London and The George Eastman House, Rochester. She lives and works in Copenhagen.
