Description

Attractive Set of Nine French Engravings of "Life in the Garden of Eden", third quarter 19th century, covering Adam's awakening of Eve to the Expulsion, the scenes engraved by Charles Lalaisse (1811-ca. 1873) in partnership with such artists as Alfred Moret (ca. 1851-1913), Pierre Pelee (1801-1871), and J.-L.-T. Caron (1790-1852), all after paintings by such Academics as Melin, Bernouville, Richomme and Lemercier, presented in matching white mats with giltwood edges within half-round moldings in the neoclassical style and glazed, sight 14-3/4" x 11-1/4", overall 24-1/4" x 19-1/4".
