The present paintings can be related to a very close composition by Achille Etna Michallon, signed and sold with Sotheby's London, October 28, 2004, lot 178 (see B. Lesage, "Achille-Etna Michallon (1796-1822). Catalogue de l'Oeuvre Peint", in Gazette des Beaux-Arts, October 1997, vol. CXXX, p. 114, cat. no. 15, reproduced).
