Description

A NEW ENGLAND LANDSCAPE Contemporary signature mounted on back of frame, watercolor on paper, framed. 8 x 12 1/2 in. sight. PROVENANCE: Albert Leighton Rawson was born at Chester, Vermont. He traveled extensively throughout the United States, Central American, and Middle and Far East. An author, Rawson published books on the history of world religions, Central American Mound Builders, European and Middle Eastern languages, archeology, and antiquities. He also provided illustrations and maps to magazines and to the books of other authors. A founder of the Theosophical Society in the United States, Rawson was a member of numerous literary, geographical and scientic societies. He died in New York City.
