Few works of this subject matter are known by d'Elia but the present paintings can be compared to that offered at the Dorotheum Vienna, 6 October 2009, lot 87. The artist studied under Francesco Solimena although the influence of Filippo Falciatore (Naples 1718-1768) in these two works is also clearly discernible.
