Condition Report

Overall the condition of the marble is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few very small naturally occurring inclusions, including to the cheek and neck. There are a few very minor chips. There is some rubbing to the surface at one of the decorations on the crown. There is particular dirt in the crevices. The relief is of roughly hewn octagonal shape, which is visible at the back, although it appears as an oval in the frame. There is some plaster residue to the back of the relief. The ebonised wood frame is in good condition, with visible joints. There is some wear to the paintwork at the edges, and there is minor stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material. There appear to be original wood inserts to the corners of the frame. There is a metal mount for hanging at the back.
