by descent to his daughter Mary, who married A. F. Bernard;
thence by descent in the Bernard d'Olyly family, at The Abbots, Combe Raleigh, Devon;
by whom bequeathed to the present owner

Notes

The present painting is believed to have been painted by Reynold's neice, the Marchioness of Thomond, who inherited much of the artist's estate after his death, and in who's family the present work has descended, until the present owner.
