A version of the present subject by Mateo Cerezo, signed and dated 1661, on canvas, 103 x 83 cm., is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (see P.J.J. van Thiel et al., All the Paintings of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam; A completely illustrated catalogue (Amsterdam, 1976), c. 1347, ill.). What appears to be a study for the same subject, depicting the Magdalen's head and shoulders, oil on canvas laid on panel, 41.5 x 32.5 cm., was offered at Sotheby's, London, 14 December 2000, lot 387.
