Attributed to Micah Williams (New Jersey, 1782-1837)

Portrait of William Kirby, Aged Nine and a Half. Unsigned, inscribed on the reverse "This likeness was Taken/In the Year 1803/When Nine years & a half/old Wm. Kirby." Pastel on paper, showing the brown-eyed boy wearing a blue coat and white frilled collar, with gray-blue background, 13 x 11 in. (sight), in a molded beaded giltwood and gesso frame. Condition: Minor spots of foxing, not examined out of frame.
