Lot 62: Attributed to Salomon van Ruysdael (Naarden, nr. Amsterdam? 1600/3-1670 Haarlem)

A wooded river landscape with a ferry and other boats signed (?) with initials and dated 'SVR 1632' (centre, on the boat) oil on panel 161/2 x 26 3/8 in. (42.2 x 67 cm.) PROVENANCE Anon. NOTES We are grateful to Dr. Hans-Ulrich Beck for his assistance in cataloguing this lot. Dr. Beck notes that the picture has always been regarded as an autograph work by Salomon van Ruysdael, and that the date of 1632 fits exactly with Salomon's style of that time. However the picture's condition demands a qualified attribution. Dr. Beck, judging from a photograph when with Capricorne, has stated his belief that 'the picture is without doubt by Salomon van Ruysdael'.
