Attributed to Steven Van der Meulen (active 1543-1568) Portrait of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester Three quarter length, standing, wearing the Order of the Garter Oil on panel 114 x 86cm; 45 x 34in Sir Roy Strong suggested the attribution to Steven Van der Meulen for this portrait of Robert Dudley when he saw the picture at the request of Basil Telford Sharp 20-30 years ago. Van der Meulen moved to London from Antwerp in 1560 and took English nationality in 1562.
