Bill Mauldin Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist (1921-2003) best known for his portrayals of enlisted men enduring the daily privations of military life during World War II. TLS, one page, 6 x 9.5, William Sloane Associations, Inc. letterhead, July 21, 1947. Letter to an art student at Yale. In full: Just a note to let you know I haven't forgotten your request for an original for your friend's collection. It may be a long time before I am able to get it to you, but it will eventually get there." Mauldin has added a small self-portrait next to his signature, as well as a brief handwritten postscript. In fine condition, with horizontal mailing fold through first name of signature. RRAuction COA."
