American writer (1892-1982) who was a pivotal figure in the integration of modernist literature in the 1920s and 1930s. Nightwood, Barnes' cult classic of modern fiction, features an introduction by T. S. Eliot. Brief TLS signed "D. Barnes," one page, 5.5 x 3.25, February 5, 1970. "Thank you Mr. Wilson-no." Light soiling, postal cancellation to the top, and irregular ink adhesion to the beginning of the signature, otherwise fine condition. This quick letter to Robert Wilson, owner of the renowned Phoenix Book Shop in Greenwich Village, is the first piece we've ever offered from Barnes.
