Private UK collection: acquired directly from the artist in the 1980s.

This work was painted in 1982 and is a portrait of a friend of the artist. The current work is unusual as Khanna rarely painted portraits, instead preferring to depict nudes and abstract scenes. The two other works by Khanna offered in this sale, lots 18 and 32, are more in-keeping with his oeuvre.
