Notes

On the basis of the date of 1885 and the artist's reasonably careful rendering of the yachts' racing flags in these two paintings, the cutter with the broken bowsprit appears to be the Gardenia [built by Fairbrass at Faversham in 1876 and, in 1885, owned by Mr. G.A. Burnett] whilst the other seems to be the Lorna [built by Camper & Nicholson at Gosport in 1881 and, in 1885, owned by Mr. S. Hope Morley].

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
