BARON ERNST VON MAYDELL (Austrian, 1888-1960) "DEEP SEA RACE". Outstanding fantasy watercolor shows an underwater scene with mermaids atop three different fish with other fish and a colorful sea floor. Signed lower left. Reverse having attached a two-page brochure from the "Exhibition of Motifs Aquarelles by Baron Ernst Von Maydell from the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. November 3rd to December 2nd, 1951". This watercolor was number 14 in that exhibition. Housed in a silver painted molded wood frame with gray matte. SIZE: SIGHT: 9" x 10-1/4". CONDITION: Toning to background, very good. 9-90663
