"The Last Swede is the painterly culmination of a series of photographs featuring Pia, one of my models from the previous year. It was a work that inspired me to paint more on the subject and which I feel is key to my oeuvre, in which I made peace with the colour green. I was driven by my lust for Pia, the Swedish temptress who both inspired and aroused me."
