La Sirene (The Mermaid)

This work is based on the various artistic influences that shaped Munch's art as well as his own influence of German Expressionist painters. The central figure is taken from Munch's 1896 work Mermaid.

Several Expressionist painters works are represented as well as Van Gogh's eyes that oversee the entire scene. An image from Baykam's 1986 work Please Tell Me A Comforting Lie Now is present in the top right of the field and works uses Orientalist themes.
