An Evangelist seated in a wooded landscape black chalk, brown wash heightened with white on blue paper, the upper corners cut 107/8 x 81/2 in. (275 x 215 mm.) PROVENANCE An Italian 17th Century collector, according to the inscription 'questo disegno mi fato donato a m giusto.mi' ( verso ). Duke Vittorio Amadeo I (d. 1637), and by descent in the Library of the Dukes of Savoy. Cavaliere Antonio Abrate, Turin. An unidentified collector's mark 'CL'. C.R. Rudolf; Sotheby's London, 21 May 1963, lot 7 (as Gaudenzio Ferrari). with P. & D. Colnaghi, 1963 (as Gaudenzio Ferrari). LITERATURE A.
