Small folio (295 x 200mm.), title printed within elaborate woodcut border, 7 double-page maps (including a world map), 104 maps in the text and one diagram, all woodcut, later carta rustica, one page with annotations in a contemporary hand, some light staining, map of Cyprus browned

NOTE

Besides the oval world map (Shirley 59), eleven of the maps relate to the Americas. Bordone's Isolario is in the tradition of the Mediterranean island book, with coverage expanded to included the world considered as a series of islands.
