Description

BORIS VASSILOFF (RUSSIAN-AMERICAN 1901-2000), "Still Life of Crysanthemums," watercolor on paper, 54 x 36 cm (21 1/4 x 14 1/4 in.) [sight], signed lower left. Boris Vassiloff was a student at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg before leaving Russia to live in Mongolia with his Uncle. A prolific traveler as well as painter, Vassiloff spent time visiting and working in Manchuria, China, Indo-China, Hong Kong, Dijbouti, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Canada, and America. Emigrating to New York in 1952, he settled in Sea Cliff, Long Island and was highly active especially executing commissioned works but also as a teacher and mentor to art students. Vassiloff was particularly noted for his proficiency with still lifes. THIS LOT IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE.
