Description

Conrad Freitag, American, 1802 -1894. A watercolor seascape with the pilot boat Pet #9, a 54 ton Schooner 54' in length owned by the New York Pilots Co., depicted off shore with steam ships and clipper ships in the distance. Signed lower right "C Freitag, 173 South ST. N.Y.". Slight discoloration, mounted on cardstock. Image 8 1/2 x 6 3/4", in a Victorian Walnut frame 16 1/4 x 14 1/4" overall. ESTIMATE $1,000-2,000

Conditions of sale

ALL Absentee, Phone or Internet bidders must complete and return our Bidder's Authorization form prior to bidding on any item. Intending purchasers will provide their names and addresses and credit card information prior to the auction. Payments on accounts are to be made within 5 days of the auction, default on any of these conditions will result in the items being resold at the auctioneer's earliest convenience. There will be a Fifteen percent (15%) buyer's premium added to the final hammer price on all lots, to be paid by the purchaser. We accept Visa, MC, Discover, Amex, Checks or Wire Transfer for Domestic purchases. Overseas purchases may be paid by Bank Wire Transfer only. We do not ship Ivory items out of the US.

All items will be placed on public exhibition prior to the auction, for examination by any intended purchasers. Schmidt's Antiques Inc, the Auctioneer, will not be held responsible for the correctness of the description, the authenticity, genuineness, or any defect concerning any lot, and makes no warranty whatsoever, and instead will sell each lot exactly as-is, without recourse.

All bids are to be per item as numbered in the catalog. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid. The highest bidder as determined by the Auctioneer will be the buyer. The Auctioneer shall determine the highest bidder at his sole discretion and will have complete authority to decide any and all disputed bids, his decision shall be final. Estimates are provided on items as a basis for comparison only. A small percentage of the items offered may have a reserve price. In no case will an item have a reserve price in excess of the low estimate. Minimum starting bid on all lots will be 50% of the low estimate.

All purchases are to be removed at the buyer's expense and risk within 5 days of the conclusion of the auction. Arrangement for shipping, pick up or transfer of all auction items will be made by the buyer and at the buyer's expense. All purchases will be paid for in full prior to any one or all of the purchases leaving the premises. Title shall pass at the fall of the hammer and Schmidt's Antiques Inc, the Auctioneer will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any item whatsoever and items are left at the sole risk of the purchaser. Items left beyond 5 days will be subject to storage charges. We do not ship Ivory items overseas or to the State of California, pick up only.

If accounts are not paid in full within 5 days, or in the case of absentee bidders, upon presentation of a bill, any and all deposits left on said items will be forfeited by the purchaser. Schmidt's Antiques Inc. reserves the right to sell unpaid items either by private or public sale, at our discretion, without any further notice to the defaulter. The defaulter will be responsible for any such deficiency that may arise, plus any expenses incurred in reselling any defaulted upon items.

Schmidt's Antiques Inc. makes no additional charge for execution orders for our clients, and uses all absentee bids competitively.
