CATALOGUE NOTE

The Maharaja of Indore was the adopted son of H.H. Maharani Maji Sahiba Keshri Bai (the 'adopted grandmother' of the previous maharaja) who ruled as regent on his behalf until her death in 1849. He was not invested with full ruling powers until 1852.
