Margharita Caffi was highly regarded as an artist during her lifetime. For some time, she worked at the Tyrolean court under the reign of the archdukes Maximilian und Leopold. Vittoria Della Rovere, spouse of Ferdinand II. de' Medici, was said to be a great admirer of her art. Furthermore, she was active at the Spanish court, and these days some of her works are on display in several major Spanish museums. Her excellent still life paintings were certainly influenced by the art of her father Vincenzo Volo as well as of Ludovico Caffi.
