[ CANADIAN ART ] George agnew reid (1860-1947) CHILDREN PICKING FLOWERS signed and dated '91' oil on canvas 26.3 by 36.3 cm. 10.5 by 14.5 in. Reid frequently painted sketches like Children Picking Flowers both for their own sake, and for possible inclusion in a larger painting at a later date. Christine Boyanski comments: 'The sketch was valued because it embodied an original idea, and the individual sensibility of the artist through the spontaneity and freedom visible in the brushwork.'
