CAPTAIN RICHARD BRYDGES BEECHEY (1808-1895, BRITISH) Signed and Dated 1864 Oil on Canvas "Stormy Seas in Valetta Harbour" 30" x 43" Provenance: Commissioned by Thomas Stilwell Esq of Messrs Stilwell & Co, Private Bankers in the City of London, for the sum of £ 60 including framing whilst residing at Stone House, Sunningdale 1864 (see labels verso). The Companion Picture, commissioned a year earlier "Wreck of HMS Orpheus" was sent to the National Maritime Museum, Auckland in 1995, where it can now be seen on public display.
