Notes

Mary Newcome Schleier confirmed the attribution to Baratta to the previous owner, comparing the drawing to the artist's Death of Hector in a private collection (formerly with P.&D. Colnaghi, London, 2002, no. 32). The old attribution on the backing probably refers to the Genoese artist Giovanni David (1743-1790) who greatly influenced Baratta.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
