This bronze is a maquette for Tree Seat, one of a number of sculptures commissioned by Dublin City Council June-July 1988 for the 'Dublin Millennium Sculpture Symposium'. Selected by open anonymous submission this symposium resulted in a number of works being sited in Dublin city including, Ballymun, Essex Quay, Gardiner Street Park, D'Olier Street and Finglas. Among the participating artists was Mulholland whose full-sized work was located at the Dame Street end of South Great George's Street.
