Description

Cesare Pascarella (1858-1940) Two autograph letters signed 'Pasca' by the great Roman poet ,and addressed to "Cimone" , the pseudonym of the writer and scholar Emilio Faelli (1866-1941). In this letter, reference is made to his work, Villa Gloria (1886), a book of lyrics inspired to the Cairoli Brother's attempt to rescue Rome where, as Carducci wrote, Pascarella 'solleva di botto con pugno fermo il dialetto alle altezze epiche'. A) Two page letter, 8vo, on headed paper of the 'Grand hotel de Milan': Sono disfatto dalla fatica! Macché Roma, macché Napoli! [...] Non ho mai visto in vita mia tonto gente intorno a me! mai! [...] Ho replicato lo scoperto e non ho dovuto dire Villa Gloria! Mille e cinquanta versi!!! [...] Salutame tu' moje e li regazzini!' b) Writing on card (cm. 11.5 × 9) dated 'Rome, 9 novembre 1930': seven lines from the 'Atto quinto -scena ultima o forse penultima'. Also enclosed is a franked envelope with autograph address and cancellation. :
